The Rt. Hon. Gordon Brown, Prime Minister

I am delighted to give my support to the London Week of Peace which aims to bring the people of our capital city together to help create stronger and safer communities. It provides a chance to celebrate the work done by so many individuals and voluntary groups for the good of others, but it is also a unique opportunity to develop new ways of working together to improve the lives of those living in London.

The Rt. Hon David Cameron MP, Leader of the Conservative Party

I am delighted to send my best wishes to everyone involved in this year’s London Week of Peace. It is about people stepping up to the plate and playing their parts in improving the communities in which they live. And it has made a real difference.

The Rt Hon AlanJohnson MP,
Home Secretary

I am delighted to offer my support to the London Week of Peace 2009.

The London week of peace provides an excellent demonstration of how people from all backgrounds and experience can come together to focus on the common purpose of peace, and celebrate, enjoy and take pride in our capital city.

This is a valuable opportunity for people from across the capital to enjoy the activities on offer, and take part in events in a spirit of true co-operation and respect. In particular, the LWOP shows just how committed communities are to achieving peace and that the majority of our young people make a valuable and positive contribution to society.

The London Week of Peace also provides an opportunity to recognise those who work so hard to support their communities. The peace awards show how much these local organisations are appreciated for their work in supporting communities, and in helping to make them safer.
I wish you every success for the London Week of Peace 2009.

Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London

The Week of Peace gives all Londoners the chance to play their part in making our city safer and more peaceful. In troubling times we need public statements of solidarity, which the Week of Peace certainly provides. It also highlights the fantastic work being done by grassroots initiatives across the capital, and inspires other communities to follow suit with their own solutions. It is great for London and I offer it my total support.

The Rt. Hon Nick Clegg MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Party

I am delighted to support London Week of Peace that seeks to promote justice, equality and respect through a number of different events. I hope that the celebrations are as successful as they have been in the past and I send my best wishes to everyone involved.
The London Week of Peace allows London to celebrate its diversity and create a more cohesive society that is beneficial for everyone. This year has been hard for many young people in and around London. This event will hopefully place more concentration on the challenges of young people in London and help fight against youth crime. Get involved, and help London become a fairer place!

The Met is once again proud to support the London Week of Peace. We share the vision of the organisers that all citizens must play a part in helping to make London's communities safer. The Met remains dedicated to helping those citizens understand that we are on their side when it comes to delivering a society in which all those who live here, work here and visit London, can enjoy their rights in a safe and secure environment.
